Privacy Policy
Last updated: 7 July 2026
This policy explains how Real View (“we”, “us”) collects and uses personal information in connection with Hotel Cams, our live-view camera service. For privacy matters you can reach us at privacy@real-view.tv.
Who we are
Hotel Cams is a service provided by Real View. For the personal data we handle about our customers and enquirers, Real View is the data controller. Where our cameras capture a public-facing view of your location, the position is explained under “Camera footage” below.
Information we collect
- Enquiry details — when you use our contact form we collect your email address, property name, and the message you send.
- Account and billing details — if you become a customer, the contact and billing information needed to set up and run your account.
- Camera images and footage — still images and live video captured by the camera you install, which is intended to show a scenic or public-facing view.
- Technical and usage data — information about how you use the control panel and website, such as device, browser and log data.
- Communications — messages you send us, including through our live chat.
How we use your information
We use personal information to:
- respond to your enquiry and provide a quote;
- set up, provide, support and bill for the Service;
- publish and distribute your live view and derived clips across the channels you enable (your website embed, your YouTube channel, and the Real View viewing channel);
- operate and secure the platform, and monitor and improve how it works;
- communicate with you about your account and service; and
- comply with our legal obligations.
Depending on the purpose, we rely on one or more lawful bases: performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running and improving the Service, your consent (for example for optional communications), and compliance with legal obligations.
Camera footage
Hotel Cams are intended to capture a scenic, public-facing view — a coastline, a landscape, a garden — for the express purpose of showing it publicly. You choose where the camera points. Where a camera could capture identifiable individuals (for example guests on a terrace or a beach), you, as our customer, decide why and how that footage is used, and you are the data controller for it; we process it on your behalf as your processor. In that case you are responsible for positioning the camera appropriately, for displaying any signage required, for informing people where necessary, and for ensuring there is a lawful basis for capturing and publishing the view. We handle the footage in line with our agreement with you and applicable data protection law. Please avoid pointing the camera at areas where people have a reasonable expectation of privacy.
Cookies, analytics and live chat
Our website uses a small number of cookies and similar technologies to make the site work, understand how it is used, and remember your preferences. Our live chat is provided by a third-party tool, which may set its own cookies to run the chat. You can control cookies through your browser, though some features may not work properly without them.
Sharing your information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with:
- Service providers who help us operate the Service — for example cloud hosting and content-delivery providers (including Cloudflare), video platforms such as YouTube where you enable simulcasting, live chat, email and payment providers — who act on our instructions;
- Authorities or advisers where required by law or to establish, exercise or defend legal rights; and
- A successor in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
International transfers
Some of our providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as UK-approved standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision) to protect your information.
How long we keep it
- Enquiry details are kept for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for a reasonable period afterwards.
- Captured images are kept for a rolling period so you can build timelapses and highlight clips; finished clips are kept for a short period after you create them, so download the ones you want to keep.
- Account and billing records are kept for as long as you are a customer and for any period we are required to keep them by law.
Your rights
Subject to certain conditions, you have the right to access a copy of your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where we rely on it. To exercise any of these, email privacy@real-view.tv. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, though we’d appreciate the chance to help first.
Data security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure or loss. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
The Service is a business service and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post any changes on this page and update the “Last updated” date above.
